Brown magazine is pleased to announce the opening of BROWN project space, Wednesday 18th of June at 7.00 pm, c/o Via Eustachi 3, Milan.

The space – which will also be the editorial office – will host a regular program of exhibitions, with the purpose of a non profit reality for contemporary art – and not only.

In this way Brown develops its own offer, combining the online magazine with a new curatorial project, born from the experience of the artists Luigi Presicce e Luca Francesconi. This is not a collective name but a “curatorial brand”, where the synergy of different components can find a synthesis in exhibition projects focused on topics such as Spirituality, Metaphysic, Alchemy and Popular Art, which already lead the editorial structure of the magazine.

The project space will open the next 18th June – simultaneously with the release of the second issue of the magazine on www.brownmagazine.net - showing a double solo show of Jacopo Miliani (Florence, 1979) and Richard Clements (London, 1983).

The installation by Jacopo Miliani, without being a site-specific work, results as an investigation concerning the space and the role of the viewer/spectator. Through the use of geometrical forms, found materials and ephemeral architectures it becomes the instrument able to transmit a past, present or future experience. The suspension of the object inside an indefinite time represents not only the trace of a ritual, but remains as liminal dimension of the act.
The work, shown in Brown, aims to be a reflection about the opening of a place, whose magic value is confronting with the praxis of its inhabitant.

On the other hand, the production of Richard Clements is focused on the role of the sculpture as “instrument of spatiality” and it develops a structural purpose inside the exhibition. The significance is no longer inherent to the individual work, but it has to be searched outside, through a phenomenological reading of the object integrated in a system of spatial relations with other objects.
Clements is interested in theories of wholeness and the hermeneutical circle in reference to the construction of meaning, and his theorectical approach is antithetic to any type of de-structural or fragmentary notions.
Following this logic, Alchemy, which represents a constant reference in Clements’ works, has to be considered as an interest towards the transubstantial power (change of the overall substance) - and not merely consubstantial (with only an evocative value) - of the sculpture.

After the show - from 11.00 am till late - Brown party c/o club Sottomarino Giallo, via Donatello 2 (entrance 10 Euros- first drink included).
